Rhonda Perry Rivers, Ph.D.

I am a Georgia Licensed Psychologist in private practice with over 25 years of experience providing individual and group therapy. My practice specialties are stress management, trauma and abuse, relationships, and multicultural and racial identity issues.  Additionally, one of the unique factors that I bring to my work is an ability to assist clients whose religious faith is instrumental in many of their life choices.  I have found that combining evidenced based treatment along with the knowledge that comes from spiritual and religious faith is an approach that works for many clients. “I understand the importance of incorporating one’s faith into the therapy experience and am comfortable with talking about those values with my clients”.

I provide consultation for organizations on areas of stress management. A growing focus of my business is working with churches and church leaders on areas of managing stress, forgiveness, and self care.

I have been a guest on the “ChatKafe” online radio show, hosted by Mr. Kenny Pugh and “The Financial Breeze Show” hosted by Mr. Harold “Breezy” Gibson serving as an expert on relationships on both of these programs. I have also been a featured guest on Epiphany Inc’s, “Econversations”, hosted by Ms. Nicole Franklin, a noted Journalist and Independent Documentary Filmmaker.  “An Epiphany Conversation: Relationship Roundtable with Dr. Rhonda”, can be seen here,  HYPERLINK “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4iqqnClmEk” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4iqqnClmEk, and “An Epiphany Conversation: Real Talk with The Good Guys”, can be seen here,  HYPERLINK “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmjlmXwvepM” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmjlmXwvepM.

I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago in 1996, my M.S. degree in Counseling from Georgia State University in 1985 and my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1983. I have served in leadership positions in several professional organizations including President of the Georgia College Counseling Association in 2001, Board member of the Georgia Psychological Association from 2000-2002, and the Professional Development Chair of the American College Counseling Association from 2004-2008.

To relieve my own stress, I enjoy participating in 5K and 10K races, my favorite being the Peachtree Road Race which is an annual race every Fourth of July here in Atlanta. This comes in handy, as one of my favorite pastimes is baking; anything chocolate is my favorite! Going to movies, trying out new restaurants with friends, or watching my favorite Atlanta sports teams are all things I enjoy to balance my busy life.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see my clients gain new insights and find relief from their emotional pain. I want to hear your story! “Healing Hearts” is my company name and “Freeing Minds” is my goal!
