Simona Cohen, NCC, M.Ed.

I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). My passion is working with children and their parents/guardians to help them achieve their full potential in
their daily functioning and interpersonal relationships. I use a gentle person-centered approach to create a safe and supportive environment for children, adolescents, and adults in which they are encouraged to self-reflect, learn new skills, and make changes to enhance their well-being.

I employ a variety of different strategies including art and play therapy to help individuals improve in areas of need, such as anxiety, depression, grief, loss, poor self-esteem, family changes and divorce, anger issues, behavioral issues, and trauma. In a collaborative effort with the client, and the parents/guardians if deemed necessary, we focus on personal strengths and develop new problem-solving and coping strategies, which allow the individual to achieve positive change and personal growth.

I received my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from Georgia State, and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland. I am currently working towards my full licensure and work under the supervision of licensed psychologist and NDCC co-direction, Christi Bartolomucci.

I have prior experience working in the school setting as a school counselor and as a teacher, so I am keenly aware of the challenges faced by children in the classroom environment.

I look forward to working with you!
